is the eldest son of Rwanda's Head of State – President Paul Kagame.Ivan's father is the sixth and current President of Rwanda and the leader of Rwanda's majority party the Rwandan Patriotic Front. His mother Jeannette Kagame (born as Jeannette Nyiramongi) is the first lady of the Republic of Rwanda.Early life

On June 10, 1989; President Paul Kagame married Jeannette Nyiramongi. The couple have four children, Ivan (the eldest child) and his siblings – Ange Kagame, Ian and Brian.
For most of his childhood, Ivan Kagame was shielded from the public eye for security reasons and privacy issues.

completed his school education in the United States of America. On being of legal age, he officially joined the Rwanda Defense Forces. His father President Paul Kagame later enrolled his son at the West Point Academy.Public Appearances

Although he was shielded from the public eye as a child, since his graduation he has made several public appearances. Of which most have been for various social welfare campaigns and charity events.He was noticeable during the 2010 Presidential election campaign in Rwanda as he campaigned for his father President Kagame.
